Viv, that was unbelievably marvellous! Hope it all checks out with the other information I'm expecting shortly. I've been used in the past to being a lucky boy with my own family research, especially with my Radnorshire Thomases, but if this proves to be the right family I think my cousin will be over the moon.

Did get a bit of a shiver when I saw Heolgerrig, as I have family living there now! The houses are a bit different these days, though!

Thanks again.

You are welcome, Mickytom.

I know the feeling when everything fits into place.  Hope this is the right information.  Keep my fingers crossed.

Sorry guys, especially Viv; looks like I might have jumped the gun before. The William Evanses in Trefil may well turn out to be the ones I'm looking for, but it turns out that my Keziah's maiden name was WILLIAMS, not JONES. My cousin now has a copy of her father's birth certificate and it shows that he was born in 1919 in the King's Arms pub in Trefil village, his father, William, being the publican. I have a Keziah WILLIAMS and William EVANS being married in the September quarter of 1901 in Merthyr Tydfil via FreeBMD, but don't know whether this might be a bit early. Looks like Keziah is turning out to be a more common christian name than I had supposed. Don't suppose any Keziah Williamses appear in 1901 around the Breconshire/Monmouthshire/Glamorgan border area?

Mickytom,

found this one: not sure if it near the area you need!

RG13, 5175, 104, 2
Keziah Williams b. abt 1873 in  Llangynidr, Breconshire, living in Llangynidr, Breconshire .
Mother: Joan

RG13 5171, 111, 11
Kezia Williams b. 1883 in Llangynidr, Brecon, living in Dukestown, Monmouthshire
Father: Thomas J, limestone lab. in quarry
Mother: Gwenllian

Living in Rhymney Row, Trevil!!!

The second one looks a good bet, although she married at 18, which was not unusual.

Viv

P:S:  There are some Keziah Williams born in the Glam area.
Gywnedd/Caernarvonshire: Roberts, Evans;
Glamorganshire: Griffiths, Thomas;
Middlesex: Sibley, Barnett;
Beds: Sibley
Kent: Jury, Hunt;
Yorkshire/Middlesbrough: Wright, Sullivan;
Irleand/Cork: Donovan, Sullivan;
Northern Ireland (Monaghan): Keefe;

Viv

You are a star! I'd say the second Kezia is more than a good bet! Llangynidr is pretty much the first village you come to after Trefil, going up into the mountains, then down into the Usk valley, and Dukestown is on the northern fringe of Tredegar, about three miles from Trefil proper. If she was born in 1883, that would make her 36 when my uncle was born. All seems to fit.
