My husbands GRT.Grt Grandfather was at St.Andrews University 1824/25, and 1827/28 studying Greek and Latin, Could anyone tell me how he would get an education and manage to get to  University in those days, his father was only a Blacksmith

I've just read your post looking for information about your husband's G/G/Grandfather who studied here at the University of St Andrews.

Click here http://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/specialcollections/ and get details for the Special Collections Department then email them speccoll[color=Blue][at][/color]st-andrews.ac.uk with your information and what you want to know.  Give them a little while to collate the information and to answer you.  It's a busy place!

Crawford, Neilson, Lindsay, Reekie, Davidson
Drummond, Laing, Pearson, Tulloch ... will do for starters but there's a whole lot more!
