gggfather Joseph Powell was born in Stanwell in 1804 ?
and eventually married a Caroline Miles in 1828 in Guildford Surrey.

Can't seem to confirm his birth. or who his parents were.

There was talk of his parents being John Powell b.1786 ? and married to a Sarah Greenway .but not sure.

Saw Karens offer ! and would appreciate her help.

I have it that my Great granddad William Powell b.1/8/1843 stanwell UK m.Martha sarah plim. his father was Joseph b.1803 m. Caroline Miles. his father John B. 1786 d.1841.m. sarah greenway. his father also John b.1753-1821.m. Jane moored orm. his father Richard 1721-1803 m. Anne Jones.
his father George b.1690 m.sarah Pratt. d.?? his father Richard 1655-?? m. Mary Horton..
I am sure I am on the right line...until proven wrong....should be helpful...

Not sure where John Powell/Sarah Greenway fits in 

William son of Joseph & Caroline appears on the census with them in 1841 age 1 and in 1851 age 11 so born c1840.

The Joseph who was baptised at Stanwell 13 Feb 1803 had parents John & Jane
John & Jane appear to have children baptised in Stanwell from 1783 until 1803
Jane Powell was buried at Stanwell 1833 age 72 (Born c1761)
John Powell was buried at Stanwell 1821 age 68 (born c1753)
John Powell married Jane Moored at St Mary, Ealing 16 May 1783 which ties in with the baptism of the first child at Stanwell.

John Powell was baptised at Stanwell father Richard 4 Feb 1753

There are a row of cottages in Stanwell called Powell's Cottages. Sadly most of the headstones in the church grave yard are unreadable.

Hi Rosie, are you related or a Powell, I am the great grandson of William b.1843 and Marthe sarah (plim)
who emigrated to Nz in 1873??
They had 13 children, William ,Ruben, Frederick, Robert, Edwin, Clara Martha, Albert, Philip,
Ada, Walter, Henry, Thomas, and my granddad Alfred. b.1891 d.1938. served in france ww1 and came home, married Margaret Hunter Nicholson and had 3 children. Margaret, Christine
and James (my dad). b.1930 d.1980. who married Margaret Lily sands (mum) and had 6 sons,
Murray, Gary, Neville, Peter, Brian (me)b. 7/12/62 and Ian .
I have 2 marriages and 6 children in total . (5 serviving)
anyway The John Powell b. 1786 /Sarah Greenway is the son of John Powell b.1753/ Jane Moored Orr??.
The dates make sense as well.....
Looking forward to knowing a bit more about you and where you are located....

If John who married Sarah Greenway was the son of John Powell & Jane Moored then he is the brother of Joseph bn 1803 not the father.  Their son John appears to have been baptised in 1796.

Baptisms in Stanwell for children of John and Jane are as follows

I am not seeing any mention of Jane having the additional name Orr. She married in Ealing as Jane Moored. 

When/Where did John Powell marry Sarah Greenway. There is a burial in Stanwell for a John Powell of Stanwell Moor who was born c1786.
