Kincardine Censuses
« on: Sunday 09 January 05 11:09 GMT (UK) »
Does anyone know how I can view or buy Kincardine censuses before 1881?

I know there is some Free census of Kincardine on line but it is not the right bit.

Hi Jane,
The ScotlandsPeople site is promising some Census information this year:

1871 (Spring 2005)

1841 – 1861 (Summer 2005)

I, too, anxiously await...

I look forward to that.

Better start saving up.

How long do theytake to send an extract - I have been waiting since before Christmas for one.

Staffordshire send theirs by return of post and they're £3 cheaper

When (or if  :( ) they have the correct census online the Scotlands People web site allows you to download the images that you view .... so no waiting

If you send for an extract that is not downloadable .... the waiting time has recently shot up due (in part) to the increase use of the site prompted by the BBC series ..... and in part by the public holidays over Xmas and New Year .. most public offices shut down for 2 weeks of over the period

Excuse me for going a little off topic, but to which BBC series do you refer?

I hope I will get a chance to see it in Australia...

Just noticed your posting as I am new to this.  The FreeCen Search Site has Kincardineshire for 1841 and I was able to find a few of my ancestors in Nigg, Kincardineshire.  If you can send me a couple of names and where in Kincardineshire I could look it up for you.

Hi Torry girl

Thanks for your reply

I have now had access to 1871 & 1861 censuses on Scotland's people.
I'm trying to track Archibald Spark born 1811. He's in Montrose 1841 but I don't know where he is in 1851. 1861 & 1871 he's in Forgue Aberdeenshire then he moves to Banchory Ternan.

Anything about the Reiths would be good his wife being Barbara Reith born 1813 Drumoak parents John 1779 and Ann Findlay 1786

Cheers
