Dronfield, though close to Sheffield, is in Derbyshire and has always been in the Chesterfield Registration District.  :)

But Woodhouse seems to be Sheffield

and she seems to be the best/ only fit of the time. Perhaps when yogibear returns we may find out.  ;D

That's a different Woodhouse. The census entry does say 'do' for DBY  then Woodhouse so it's more likely that it is Dronfield Woodhouse rather than Handsworth Woodhouse, bearing in mind also the birthplaces of others in the household. I don't mind being wrong if it solves the problem!  :D

I stand corrected and agree entirely Hugh.
I can only blame my delight and enthusiasm at finding Harriett - or someone closely resembling her.  ;D
I also did feel that oly was supporting my premise and got carried away.
I saw the Chesterfield bit but looked on the map and it didn't look too far away at the time. I once had relatives who lived on a farm in Norton and as they had moved there from Alfreton, Derbyshire (note the logic here) I thought, "that looks good to me!"    ;)
Lo and behold, I now look Norton up as a result of your apt intervention into my geographical awareness and it says that Norton is two and a half miles from Dronfield and four from Sheffield.  :o
So I am consoling myself that I wasn't too far away at the time and anyway
I was just trying to help find Harriet -as said earlier-- so -- if yogibear returns we may get more clues.  ;D ;D

HI

Sorry to be negative at this early stage, but how do you know for certain that Harriet was born a Hibbert?   I know from your other postings that you have sent for Harriet Hibbert marriage cert.  I know you say that Harriet apears as a Hibbert on the birth cert of her daughter Edna.

but just maybe Harriet was either a bit older than that 1896 birth entry or her surnama had/has change  very quickley after birth or she could have been married before.

Just my thoughts thats all - lets hope that marriage cert your waiting for gives you her fathers name at least.
