Help - Sister of Mercy
« on: Sunday 09 January 05 16:02 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
I have found an ancestor who is listed in a census as a Sister of Mercy.
Does anyone know where I might be able to research RC convent records?
 ???
Any help would be appreciated

Hi, thanks yes I did and how rude of me not to post back. In the end from there I found the Catholic Family History site:

http://www.catholic-history.org.uk/cfhs/

They have lots of information and publications and I have written to the contact listed on the site who holds a register of 14,000 nuns. There is no charge for this :) :)
Interestingly there is also an index of beneficiaries of wills of Lancashire Catholics some 23,000 mentions which people are also welcome to write away for.
And for those of you that have a catholic family history there is a wealth of publications with information.

So Cheers Mobo  :) :) And suppose it makes a real difference from my ag labs!!! ;D ;D ;D ;)
