George H Sunnucks
« on: Friday 22 February 08 15:20 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find out details about George H Sunnucks born around 1921. I know that he and his wife Doreen were living in the Hastings area in 2001. Doreen died that year, but I believe George was still alive in 2005......and may still be so!! If anyone has any information on either George or Doreen I would be very grateful to receive it!

Hi
Welcome to rootschat.   I have checked bt.com to see if he has a phone line but no luck.  Looking for living people is always difficult and we do try to avoid mentioning dates etc that might identify people.  Electoral rolls might be a possibility and there are various online sites that hold those though I believe they are paying.
Sorry, I am not being very helpful.   Another rootschatter may have more ideas.  I thought it was important to answer so you did not think we were ignoring you!

Hello Andrea,
Many thanks for your reply and your efforts to track down the elusive Mr Sunnucks! I found his address in 1979 on the 'Ancestry'site...he was in the phone book in Hastings. I also found him living in East Sussex on the Electoral Roll in 2006 on 192.com, but to see his full address on there would cost around £200! I am fairly sure he died last year as he is not listed on the 2007 Electoral Roll. I know his wife Doreen died in 2001. I am sure I will find out more about him eventually, but I think it might cost a bit to do so! Thanks again for your reply, it is much appreciated.
Roger

Hi Roger
It might be worth contacting the Hastings local register office and asking if they have a death registered for him.   I am not sure if ancestry have such recent deaths - if they have it will give his date of birth.  Wills might help too.  Are you trying to get back or just to find more about him?
Andrea

Hi Roger

If they died and were buried/cremated in Hastings, then it would have been at the Hastings Cemetery on the Ridge.

An e-mail to them usually gets a very quick and helpful reply

Hello Chris and Andrea,
Many thanks for your help and suggestions....I will send an email to the Hastings cemetery today. I am doing this for a friend who lost contact with her father many years ago so, as you can imagine, it is quite a delicate situation. I fear that she has decided to find her father again too late, but even if he has died we might be able to find other living relatives that she can contact. I think I am, with your help, getting closer to my goal! We already know quite a bit about George's ancestry. It was fairly easy to get back with Sunnucks being quite an unusual name, it is his life that my friend is interested in.
Thanks again,
Roger
