Is this now resolved?  If not, it would help us if you could perhaps give us a clue ie.

When you began, you were looking for a Joseph AUSTEN bc1837/1838 Rolvenden ............................ where did you learn about him from ie. when/where does he next turn up/why was you looking for him?

It would appear the only part of the puzzle I'm stuck on now is when Mary Austen [nee Walker] died [she was born 1797 Brenchley, Kent].  I know her son Joseph and his wife emigrated to Australia in 1838 but I can't see her listed with them on the passenger list.  If she didn't  come with them then I'd assume she'd have died in the UK but I can't find that record either
