Hello FionaLorraine,

What do you mean by the Subject Heading "Cancelled"?   I presume the original heading was "Northern Ireland Libraries and Genealogy"

If you call in to a Library to look at the the books, directories, documents and newspapers that most Local Studies departments hold you don't have all that much time left to use their computers.

Many of the Librarians in Local Stuies departments are excellent at finding information for queries that they receive and tend to send prompt replies too.

Hi FionaLorraine,

You can do the next best thing and lock the thread so that no one can post replies on it. You can also mark the first message COMPLETE. The locking facility is at the left hand side at the end of your last message on the thread.

Hi FionaLorraine,

You can't delete a post, and just deleting the contents makes it difficult to understand the rest of the replies.

What you can do is:

- If it's in the wrong place, ask a moderator to move it to the approriate board.

- If you want to rephrase your question and no-one has replied, then just use the 'modify' button to do it.

- if there are replies already, then you can either add "completed" to the original post and then start a new post, or add the rephrased question as a reply to the original post.

And if in doubt, simply ask a moderator - we don't bite  :)
