1871 census - Hey brothers
« on: Monday 10 January 05 09:37 GMT (UK) »
I would love to know whether there is any sign of these brothers in the 1871 census:

George Hey born 1830 in either Beamsley or Gargrave
William Hey born 1835 in either Beamsley or Gargrave.

Both were alive in 1851 but had disappeared by 1881.

Hi Saar

Do you have any other details?

Who they both married, if they married?
Any children they had.

Its just that I found the above names you mention and rough age range George born West Clayton with a wife and family and Wm as a lodger but states born Bradford.

Can you help me to help you?

Wendy

I'm afraid I don't know whether they ever married.
In 1851 George was in Leeds and William was in Bolton Abbey.

Other possible birthplaces ar Bolton Abbey or Skipton. West Clayton is unlikely and so really is Bradford unless there was a mistake somewhere - eg the person giving his birthplace didn't really know.

Their parents were William Hey who was my gg granmother's brother and Margaret Moon who was my gg grandfather's sister. William and Margaret spent most of their lives in the Bolton Abbey / Skipton area.
