Clara Elizabeth Jones died at Cowichan District Hospital on 7 July 1970. She was a widow, husband was Henry James Jones; she was born on 2 April 1887 in Deal, Kent, father was William Harris born Ireland, mother was unknown. She lived in Cowichan for 21 yrs prior to her death, in the province of BC for 21 yrs and in Canada for 65yrs. The informant was her son, Albert H Jones, of Duncan. Clara was buried at Mountain View Cemetery in North Cowichan on 9 July 1970. She died of a "very severe cerebral hemorrhage" that occurred on 27 June 1970.
Henry James Jones died at Auchinache Road in Duncan on 7 March 1958. He was married, wife listed as Clara Eliza Harris. He was born in London on 4 February 1886. He lived in Cowichan for 8yrs prior to his death, in BC for 8yrs and in Canada for 59yrs. He was a farmer and last worked in this occupation in 1958. His father was William Jones born England and mother was Louisa Dodson also born England. The informant was his son Albert H. Jones of Duncan, BC. Henry was also buried at Mtn View Cemetery, on 11 March 1958. He died of a coronary thrombosis.
I couldn't find a death record for their son, Albert, but the indexes only go up to 1987. The residency years are never exact but at least they narrow it down - according to the death registration, Clara emigrated about 1905 and Henry about 1899. Based on your photo, I am not sure if Clara's date is correct here. If Harry's date is correct, they must have married in Canada as Clara would only have been 12 yrs old. They should also be in the 1911 Census - you can search the 1901 and 1911 Census records at
www.automatedgenealogy.com. I didn't have time to do a search tonight but hopefully you can find Henry.
There is also a Border Crossing record from Manitoba on Ancestry.ca for a Henry J Jones. Can anyone with a subscription do a quick lookup and see if this is our man?
