Can anyone tell me if it is possible to access the will of a person who died in Dumfries in 1940, thank you ,stoop.

Wills are available on the Scotland's People site up to 1901. After that, they are at the National Archives in Edinburgh:

and scroll down to 'How to find Wills after 1902'
