Verses - a bit off topic
« on: Monday 10 January 05 15:52 GMT (UK) »
  • Psalm 23:1
    Yr Arglwydd yw fy mugail
    The LORD is my shepherd

I remember getting up to say my verses in chapel every Sunday. This one was always my Plan B, in case I'd not had chance to learn a new one during the week. Best of all was when I went to visit my Aunty and Uncle across the border - we went to chapel as usual, got up to say our verses, and I hadn't learnt one. Plan B sprang into action, but no one understood a word.  ;D

My favourite back-up verse was always Exodus 20.13

Na ladd (Thou shalt not kill)

The shortest verse in the Welsh Bible, until a Sunday school teacher suggested that I would probably end up being hanged for abusing the verse so often without appreciating the seriousness of its message. :o

had to smile there, as my brother had 2 backups:

wele oen Duw, and Duw cariad Duw.

I got into trouble once with my parents after he had spent all week learning meaningless paragraphs, and could say them all parrot fashion. I dared him as we were walking down to the Sedd Fawr to use his backup. Which he did.  ;D

Mum was horrified.

Anyone else apart from Dolgellau and I who had to go through this ordeal?
