Family search lookup problem

Is it me or is there something funny with the search facility at Family Search website.?
I tried to do an exact name search on Earley (all ) in England only .

I keep getting Early as well as Earley and US and Canadian census results as well as the England I wanted.

When I ask for exact name and enter just the surname Earley it comes back with the message enter the surname only ?

confused  ???

Hi earley,

I've just done the same search and got the same results.

All of the entries on the first search are for people originating in England (even if they had then moved to the US etc.).

The exact name search doesn't like you not putting in a first name as well as a surname! I've had the same problem....very frustrating.

So I'm afraid I can't help you get around this quirk, I assume it's just how their search system is set up! Just wanted you to know someone was trying to help really  :-\

The exact name search doesn't like you putting anything else even a country.

hi earley,
I have just an exact search with the IGI and you can only put in the surname and the region, and some other combinations, but if you put in the british isles you should only get the ones in england, but as well some from Ireland, Scotland, and probably Wales as well.

I know that is frustrating but if you leave the exact search off and go IGI, you should be able to get only England.

Yes the Familysearch does have limited search options which is very frustrating  :-X  But it is a great resource and it's FREE.  Pretty amazing in this day and age.  Thanks LDSaints!

Thanks everyone for your kind advice and taking the trouble to try it out too. This is me (earley ) using my friends connection as my wanadoo dousen't wanadoo today! ::)
