I am researching the Day family from Egerton in Kent, but from what I can see from the census images, itw as a fairly common name in the area.
I am interested in Thomas Day born C1833. Im not sure who his parentswere, if Im looking at the correct entry in the 1841, they were Edward and Ann.
Thomas Married Sarah (not sure when) and they had children: Thomas 1857
Emily 1861 Major 1864 Emma 1869 Alfred 1873 and Charles 1873.
The older Thomas C1833 was an Ag lab, and then a farmer, I would like to find out if the farm was passed onto him from his father.
Thomas and Sarah had travelled around a bit, their children were born in Egerton (the oldest and the youngest), Little Chart in Kent , Westfield in Sussex and Dorking in Surrey.
Is it possible that the farm would pass down through the generations?
In 1901, the son Albert was still at home working with his father, would he have carried on after Thomas's death, is there any way I can find this out other than by waiting for the 1911 census to be released?
I have details about the younger Thomas, he became a butcher in Sutton Valence, had two children, two marriages and died aged around 38.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated, and any information about any of the other members of the family if anyone else is researching them.
Thanks, Jen
