Marthanna Marshall
« on: Monday 03 March 08 12:17 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

Can anyone tell me who Marthanna Marshall's mother was, please?

Marthanna was born in 1707, in Tillingham, daughter of Matthew Marshall and Maryanna (?)

Maryanna was Matthew's first wife and there were at least three more children - Elizabeth and two named Martha, so one died in infancy. I am assuming therefore, a marriage around 1700 but it could be several years earlier. I believe that Maryanna died shortly after Marthanna's birth and Matthew remarried, a Mary Hodge, but the dates I have don't make any sense so would appreciate any help in unravelling this one.

Basically, I'd like to know who Maryanna was and if possible, her parents. When and where did she and Matthew Marshall marry and when did she die?

Thanks,

Jen

Yes, I had seen that one and it does make sense in so far as the Marshalls and Turners kept on marrying each other in my family. I had discounted it on the grounds of it being twenty years before Marthanna was born but it wouldn't be the first poor woman in my ancestry who spent all of her adult life being pregnant and then died of it at an unreasonably early age.

I have found the birth of a Matthew Marshall, 1663, Bradwell next the Sea, so that would fit with a marriage date of 1687 as well.

At this distance in time, we can't always be sure that we have found the correct information but I do hate the uncertainty - I don't want to get it wrong!!!

Thanks for your help.
