Missing Daughter of Samuel Eveleigh, Hat Manufacturer

Desperately seeking info on what happened to the older daughter of Samuel & Sarah (Fennell) Eveleigh. Eliza Maria Eveleigh, born in Manchester in 1854, married George Walker of Yorkshire in 1879, had five children born in Wandsworth between 1880 & 1889, and then both George and Eliza disappear; their five children live from then on with Sarah Eveleigh or at boarding schools. Word came of the death of Eliza in the late 1920's or early 1930's but WHERE was she from 1890 until her death?
Sarah Eveleigh lived until 1906 and died in Chorlton cum Hardy. Any info very greatly appreciated as Eliza's granddaughter is still living and would love to have these missing pieces to her family history.

What was George's occupation on either their marriage cert or the 1881 census - was it something that could have taken them abroad

Word came of the death of Eliza in the late 1920's or early 1930's

George was a wine merchant and worked with James Robinson Hunter who died in 1890 which would seem to be significant. James and wife Jane had no children. We assume that Eliza died in England and heard rumours of her having lived in London at one time during that period.

Oops; James Hunter died in 1891, not 1890.
In the 1967 obit for Eliza's daughter Gertrude Walker it says her parents were "of Buxton". Which Buxton I don't know, nor do we know if that reference is correct.

George Walker was born around 1848 in Disworth Yorkshire per the 1881 census - he and wife Eliza M Walker are visiting James R Hunter in Streatham. RG11/666 Folio 92 Page 8.

Thanks, Shaun. We're okay for 1881 but they don't appear in the 1891 or 1901 census records even doing a first name only search. I can't find a death listed for George and my friend feels that Eliza, her grandmother, didn't leave the country. Sooooo....if she and George separated and then Eliza changed her name to something else I really don't know how we'll trace her. We've sent for Eliza's mother's will so *maybe* that will give us some leads. Eliza had only one sibling, a sister Gertrude, who married Walter Jowitt but died when their first child was born. That child - Gertrude Jowitt - lived but never married and had no children so finding sources of information is VERY difficult.

I was hoping that George's birth details from the 1881 might help trace him in later years but there are an awful lot of Georges from Yorkshire and I'm not sure where "Disworth" is.

I did find a George Walker, wine & spirit merchant, in Leek, Staffordshire (25 Broad Street) in a 1912 directory.  But then it is a fairly common name.

You're certainly going the extra mile to help, Shaun, and I really appreciate it. 'Dishworth' is really Dishforth which is near Topcliffe in the North Riding of Yorkshire. George's parents were William & Elizabeth and I can trace George through earlier census records, but not later ones. The fact that this side of the family was never spoken of and that there were certain inuendos about Eliza makes it all smack of high intrigue...whatever it was that happened. My friend is okay about learning whatever it was but the not knowing is very hard.
