Where is John hiding?

At last I am putting branches on our tree, but ...
I have John Garrett, born March Q 1852 in Ebbw Vale, Monmouthshire, on the census for 1901 to 1881. In 1871 I found him with Thos Boulton (RG 10, P 5324, f 75, p 17) as nephew. He nor the Boultons are to be found for the 1861 census.

Any help would be appreciated. mz

I am having no joy. I did check some of the pieces listed as having parts missing at the archives and some of these esp 4010 - 4014 are in Monmouthshire. The ones covering ebbw vale seem to be slightly earlier - but if your folks are there, I can't at the minute find them

Here an update for John. His  birth certificate arrived. Parents are Alexander and Matilda Batchelor. Matilda must have died at birth or shortly afterwards as  Alexander by the 1871 Census is married
to Hannah, Mathilda's sister (found both marriages).

1841 Census for Batchelor (Batchler) shows there is another sister, Harriet.  Found her marriage to Thomas Poulton. So everything is now nicely tied up.

Hi RCB,

John's birth place was Ebbw Vale. The 1861 Census for this area is missing and that was where my problem started. I could not find parents for him.

Now I have to find Garrett and Bachelor in Parish Records for Wiltshire.
