Hello again, Have been researching Julia Mccarthy her husband Richard David died in 1901. I think she married in Pontypridd Thomas Follett in 1902. I will get a marriage cert tomorrow if the storms are not to bad! As it is 1902 and there are no census how will I find out if they had children. Her children from her marriage to Richard one of which Mary Jane was my husbands grandmother. Many thanks.

Mothers maiden names only appear against birth entries on the GRO index from the September quarter of 1911

As they married in 1902 they would probably have children born before 1911 so you can try one of 2 things

Follett birth entries for Pontypridd on freebmd - http://freebmd.rootsweb.com

Follett entries on the full GRO index which is available at your nearest main library

However - if Follett was a fairly common surname - you have no way of knowing which family the entry belongs to until after 1911

Thank you for helping me. I do have two Thomas Follett in the 1881 census both aged 9 and from Cardiff. The marriage cert will have his fathers name on. Kindest Regards Lynfa
