St Claires convent, Holywell

Would anyone know where I could find the records for this convent, when it functioned as an orphanage/home for girls?  I have a relative there in 1901.

Silvery - I haven't a clue where the records might be - but my Nana's sister was there in 1901 too  :D   :D

I found her about 6 years ago - long before I joined Rootshat and discovered what else it as possible to find out !

So if you find anything - please think of me - and I will of course, of you!

I only recently found her in ancestry.  Been looking for a couple of years and ancestry must have updated their records or something.  I can find her marriage in 1913, and her death, and have traced her children/grandchildren, but can't quite get to today for a contact.  Funny thing is I have others there in the 1940s.

Forgot to say I will certainly let you know if I get anything.  The only thing I ever found to date is this

Is the convent still going, do you know?  I might write to them....

Another of my great aunts was a nun, and her convent were very helpful in deed.

I don't think the convent is there now, read something recently about new houses being built there.

Will try to remember where.

Wonder what order it was. (of nuns)

Birkenhead  - that's what it says on 1901 census, but in fact she (and the rest of the family) I believe lived in Wallasey.  That's where her father (my great grandad) 3 brothers and little sister my Nana) were in 1901, anyway, and that's where they were in 1891 and 1881 !  So why it says Birkenhead for Catherine in 1901 I don't know.

Mine was Birkenhead.  Brother (great grandfather) and sister were in the union school, Rock Ferry, Birkenhead in 1891 and he was in the army in 1901.  Looking at that NE Wales site again, there are a lot of people who would like to see the records of St Clares. Someone has written to the Poor Clares who have no records.  I wonder if Birkenhead has any archives relating to it.
