Another request...?
« on: Saturday 15 March 08 18:46 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I'm now looking for marriages of the children of Tuckney Taylor and Rebecca Watson. I have those for George, Rebecca and Alice.

I've found an entry for his son, Tuckney in 1864, registered Holbeach but can't find it on the IGI to find out who he married. I've also found a death entry for a Tuckney (same birth year) in 1865 so the Census is no good.

Others I'm looking for are

Mary Ann, born 1829
Charles born 1838
Thomas born 1840
Sarah born 1840
and Henry born 1834

Would assume marriage would be in Holbeach/Whaplode area

Tuckney married either Mary Carr or Elizabeth Rodwell (freebmd)

if he died 1864 his widow, if not remarried, would be on 1871 census - do you have access to check that?

It must have been Mary Carr, here's the 1871 census, but it's the father Tuckney I think!:

1871 RG10/3332  Fol 40  p.2
Mill Gate, Whaplode
Tuckney Taylor head m 60  Ag Lab Kirton
Mary Taylor wife m 49   wife  Holbeach
John Carr wife's son 21  Ag Lab  Moulton
Martha Carr  "    dau 17                  "
Ellen Carr     "       "   13                  "
Charles H Carr "  son  4 months  Holbeach
William Finch lodger 23  Ag Lab  Essex Gt Yeldham
Thomas Phoenix "    21      "       Kirton

edit - I see you already knew this from your other thread! http://www.rootschat.com/links/0305/
so the 1864 marriage you mention is not the one you want for the son

Geoff - sounds as though the Tuckney aged 34 could be the one I'm looking for. Tuck was born 1831 so would have been this age in 1865.

The 1877, aged 66 was his father. Not sure about the 2 year old. I guess this could be the son/grandson of the other two as its an unusual name.

Ecneps - I'll check out Elizabeth Rodwell on Ancestry and see what it comes up with. Yes the marriage to Mary Carr was his father

I've found Tuckney with his father in 1861 and unmarried. i'mm now hazarding a guess in the he died in 1865 and did not marry at all. Especially as the only marriage entry I can find for a Tuckney around this time is his father's second marriage.
