Which parish is Stoborough in please?
« on: Sunday 16 March 08 10:01 GMT (UK) »
Hello  Could anyone tell me which parish Stoborough comes under in the 18th century please. It doesn't appear as a separate parish on the Dorset OPC site so where would I look for births at Stoborough?  There is a possible ancestor of mine ( William Couckram/Cockram) who married by licence in Corfe Castle in 1716 and Stoborough is given as his place of origin. Any help gratefuly received.

Hi medhist,

According to the Wareham page on  www.opcdorset.com  the parish of Holy Trinity includes Stoborough and Arne.

Hope that helps,

Hi Medhist
Stoborough is just across the River Frome from Wareham, these days connected by a short causeway. Another adjoining parish would have been Arne, which has the church of St Nicholas.
Best of luck with your research.
