Hi Isobel,
Would you have any information on William GRAHAM and (wife) Agnes ARMSTRONG? I recently found a reference that both were from and married in Half Morten in FHL website saying possible marriage @1750. My FHL film # 1067956 Canonbie says that William is from Knottyholme but no information on marriage or deaths or who the parents of either were.
William and Agnes' children are:
Francis chr Dec 30th, 1758 Canonbie
Thomas April 20th, 1760 Thorniethwaite,
Helen May 26th, 1760 knottyholme
Mary June 23rd, 1763 Thorniethwaite
Catherine September 24th, 1767 Canonbie
Agnes October 22nd, 1769 Canonbie
William Nov 24, 1770 Canonbie

Thanks for any possible help,
Razz
Laure (France);
Graham (Cumberland, England/Grahamsfield, Scotland), Taylor (Orkney);
Rogan, Johnston, McKinney, Irwin, Hamilton (Ireland);
Masters (Wiltshire, England).

The three OPR deaths & burials booklets listed were publications researched, transcribed by volunteer members of Dumfries and Galloway Family History Society. These are sold to raise the funds necessary to support our Research Centre in Dumfries.
The 'small fee' remains small -- the three booklets are currently priced at 1.00 UK pound each and their combined postal weight is 95gms.
Airmail charges add 1.82 ukpds bringing the total cost to just under 5 ukpnds. (about 10 dollars to USA, Canadian, Aus & NZ)
In the past five years I wonder how many of the 17 thousand visitors who have viewed this series of posts bothered to checkout the source website or even bothered to purchase these booklets for themselves.  It may be of interest to know that in the past five years DGFHS have publish many more OPR & MIs booklets for Dumfriesshire.
While personally edited the Langholm booklet, by considering the placenames mentioned, I discovered that many of the burials recorded were of persons who died in the parish but were from one of the adjoining parishes. To reach such a conclusion I compiled the following list of placenames which may be of interests to some.
Cheers

Hello Madison,
If you check back through this series of post you will see that Isobel has not responded since 2006.
That said, the answer to you query is that there are no VAUGHANs listed in any of the three OPR booklets referred to in the Subject Title
VAUGHAN is not a Dumfries and Galloway name that I have ever come across before.
DGFHS have a large MI database relating to inscriptions recorded in many of their published booklets.
Out of total 23 thousand gravestone records covering 5 thousand different names I can't find a single VAUGHAN listed.
While in the DGFHS Research Centre today I checked their 1901 Census Indexfor the name and found just one --
Jeanie VAUGHAN aged 16 in Troqueer, Kirkcudbrightshire
Reg District 882, Enum District 9, page 12
If this person was of interest then Scotlandspeople will no doubt give the full data.
Cheers,
Sy

Thanks for that info.  At least it rules out Dumfries for my elusive Vaughan family- can't find them in Ireland so far so will have to check out the Welsh link in Llanelli.

Hello Kizziemay.  I don't have the indexes Isobel can help you with but I read with interest your posting.  The reason being that my wife's 'tree' includes this Alexander Little.  I have learned much about his Littles that I can share with you.  To begin, Alexander was one of 14 children born to the Cannonbie Blacksmith, Lewis Little and his wife Mary Dickson.  Alexande's wife, Jemima Tait, was born to John Tait and Phoebe Scott.

Alexander is a brother of my wife's direct ancestor so I haven't followed his branch of descendants. However I do know of 2 of his children, James Little born 1853 in Canonbie and John weir Little born 1856 in Canonbie.

If you would like to learn more about the families of James and John just ask.  If you'd like to learn more about Lewis Little....and his father....and so on.....just ask.  Of course I'd like to hear if and how you are connected to Alexander.
