DOWSELL family
« on: Thursday 13 January 05 14:29 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone help me please?  I'm trying to find out any information on the Dowsell family from Newport Monmouth.
Living at 60 Gorden St, Newport in 1901 were-
Mary Dowsell born 1843 -Monmouth, Llanvaches.
Lizzie Dowsell born 1877 - Monmouth Newport.
Emily Dowsell born 1879, Monmouth Newport.
Philip dowsell born 1882 Monmouth Newport.
Also living with them was Polly Green, Mary's grandaughter age 4.
There was also a brother John born 1879 Monre Newport who was a baker.  John married Ada and they had at least one daughter, Winefrid born 1901 Newport Monre and all lived at 15 Livingstone Place, Newport in 1901.
Possible other sibling a Harry dowsell born 1871 & Thomas born 1868.  We think that Philip may have played Rugby for Newport around 1900?
If anyone could look this family up on the 1891 or 1881 census that would be brilliant.  Thank you for you help, Vicky Dowsell.

Hi Vickie
The Dowsells are an extremely elusive family.
I have failed to trace any of them on 71,81 or 91.
They would seem to have been in the Newport area
going by the childrens biths on FREE BMD.
Can anyone out there find them?

Rhys - thank you so much, that's all such a great help.  :)

Forgive me, but what is the, 1881 Ids at Christchurch, and does it mean that they made a mistake with the Dowsell name, putting OWSALL instead? Also can I look them up on this 1881 Ids at Christchurch as I would like any information I can get?

Again, many thanks - Vicky Dowsell

Hi Vicky
You can find the 1881 census on the following site

http://www.familysearch.org/

The family has been incorrectly entered as Owsall.
All the family details are there
