Hi CT.  The IGI shows a James Boag marrying a Hannah Paterson on 11 Nov 1823 Kilmarnock, Ayr.  The bans were called on 9 Nov 1823 at Maybole, Ayrshire.  They had  two daughters - Janet b. 16 Sep 1825 at Maybole, and Margaret on 4 Jun 1833 Kilmarnock.  No sign of Isabella, James or Robert.

Isles.

Hi Isles
Thanks ever so much for that I really appreciate the information Robert was name Robert Paterson Boag he also had a son Robert Paterson
You have the right family there apparently Isabella was born 1829 Maybole as well Robert was only 30 years old when he had his son John Lawrence in 1877 that would make him born 1847 I would say he was the baby of the family
Hannah died 1888 aged 84 years old at Wallsend, NSW Australia James we think died 1871 Newcastle, NSW, Australia that is near Wallsend parents William and Isabella Boag no aged until a death certificate is purchase
Still havn't found out when they came to Australia

Hello CT.

This is the family on the 1841. census in Kilmarnock, Ayr. they are under the spelling Boggs.

Boggs James, M. 40 Years, Cotton Hand Loom Weaver, born Ireland,
Boggs, Hanah, F. 35 Years, Born Ireland,
Boggs James, M. AGE 10 Years, born Ayrshire,
Boggs William, M. age 6 years, born Ayrshire,
Boggs Janet, F. age 15 years, born Ayrshire,
Boggs Isabella, F. age 13 years, born Ayrshire,
Boggs Margaret, F. age 4 Years, born Ayrshire,
Boggs Hannah, F. age 1 year, born Ayrshire.

I think the reason you are having difficulty finding the family is the spelling of the surname will be different on more than one occassion.

Regards,
Jonn.

Hello C.t.

Well as i said the surname is certainly has great variation, it looks like your family most likely at this stage were unable to read or write. here they are in the 1851. index for Kilmarnock, which i have on Disc. the index only gives the minium of detail.

Bog James, age 52 years, Kilmarnock,
Bog Ann, age 48 years, Kilmarnock, ( Ann, is interchangeable with Hannah )
Bog Janet, age 25 years, Kilmarnock,
Bog James, age 19 years, Kilmarnock,
Bog William, age 15 years, Kilmarnock,
Bog Hannah, age 11 years, Kilmarnock,
Bog Sarah, age 8 years, Kilmarnock,
Bog Robert, age 5 years, Kilmarnock.

On the same index, and not far away is.

Richmond Robert, age 25 years, Kilmarnock,
Richmond Isabella, age 22 years, Kilmarnock,
Richmond James, age 1 year, Kilmarnock.

This index does not show relationships, or where born, Kilmarnock, means where they were staying, meaning District of Ayrshire.

Regards,
Jonn.

Hello C.T.

I do not know if you have the Richmond family on the 1861. census, This i think is them, although Isabella is indexed as Elizabeth,

Riccarton, Ayr.

Richmond Robert, age 35 years, born Kilmarnock,
Richmond Elizabeth, age 33 years, born Maybole,
Richmond James, age 12 years, born Kilwinning,
Richmond William, age 10 years, born Kilmarnock,
Richmond Robert, age 7 years, born Kilmarnock,
Richmond Grace, age 3 years, born Riccarton,
Richmond Hannah, age 3 years, born Riccarton.

This is from my disc, and is only a index but the 1861, index gives place of birth.

The IGI. has three births to this couple, Robert Richmond, and Isabella Boag.

Hannah Richmond, born 13/Jan/1861. Riccarton, Ayr,
John Richmond, 19/March/1857. Kilmarnock, Ayr. ( not on census may have died young)
Grace Richmond, born 16/Aug/1858. Riccarton, Ayr.

Then there are four more submitted births, these have been put on by someone researching this family.

Richmond James, born about 1846, Scotland,
Richmond William, born about 1848, Scotland,
Richmond Robert, born about 1850 Scotland,
Richmond Grace, born about 1852, Scotland.

They have got the names correct but the birth years are well out.

Now i noticed on my index that Hannah Richmond, was down as three years, of age, so i checked on Scotlandspeople, and her age is actually down as between 0. and 1. years old, so that actually fits in with her birth.

So i reckon this is your family just before they moved to Australia.

And the Boag's, must have moved also because they are nowhere to be seen in the whole of Ayrshire, on the 1861 census.

Regards,
Jonn.

If you want to know anything on the Richmonds. I will be glad to help. Robert Richmond was older brother to my William Richmond and were sons of David Wilson Richmond and Grace Baird.
