Winnifred Horne, Brookside Cemetery Winnipeg
« on: Monday 31 March 08 09:50 BST (UK) »
Is anyone in Winnipeg able to check and see if the grave of Winnifred Horne who is buried in Brookside Cemetery is marked or not please. If it is what inscription if any is on it.

I have full details of the plot etc if someone is available.

Tah

If you go to the RAGK website (random acts of genealogical kindess), there are some wonderful people, including at least one in Winnipeg, who may be able to help you.

The cemetery itself can take a picture, once snows clear, but there is quite a high fee I believe.

AH.................snow, I hadn't thought of that, I am not sure that the grave is actually marked so I doubt it could be found with snow around.  I'll take your advise.

Thanks

Alan, what is it that you need? If you have the actual date of death,  ( hopefully Brookside didn't get it backwards) a lookup for the obit would be a lot easier and drier...the snow usually is gone by now...but the ground is wet for quite some time...
Here is the number for the leg. library... let them know the full name and date of death from the site....

I'd offer to do the lookup, but I am backed up already....first the bad weather, and right now I am just too busy to get downtown to do the ones I have promised...

I see from your other thread that you already tried newspapers and no information found

The vital stats site is working right now.....and I would suggest ordering the death cert, but the price had bloen up to $25.00 per and no telling what may be on it....People were as vague as they pleased, blanks were not mandatory to fill in...so it may contain no more than what this says...

The 'ask a librarian' service at Winnipeg Library can also check obits for you:

Thanks for the responses so far.

I have followed the avenue for obits in papers and nothing has been found.

I have all the information I require on the death and the burial, I also believe that from looking at the image of the cemetery on Google Earth I have located the area were the grave site is located. My only interest now is to find if the grave is actually marked and if so in what way, this information is desired in order to inform Winifreds 90 year old daughter who is not likely to be around for very much longer as she is in failing health.

As already mentioned I have all information I require from a genealogical point of view I merely want to be able to reassure her daughter. Apart from giving the cause of death I don't believe that getting the death certificate is going to tell us much more than we already know
