DIERDEN
« on: Tuesday 01 April 08 01:51 BST (UK) »
Looking for Dierdens in and around Haydock, particularly those connected with John Dierden, born 31 Jan 1843, married to Mary Goodwin.

I would like to find John's parents, grandparents, etc. as well as Mary's family.  Possible that John's mother was Ann(e) Daniels, father's name might have been John or William?

I have found that Dierden is sometimes spelled Dearden in the records of the parish church (St. James).  Any help would be most appreciated.

Obtained the marriage certificate for William Dierden (Dearden) and Ann Daniels -- just wanted to share new bits of information contained therein.  William's father was named Matthew (occ. collier) and Ann's father was James (says he was a farmer, but he isn't in the 1881 census -- I presume he was dead by that time -- but two other James Daniels appear in the Lancs. area who are both connected with the mines, so I wonder what happened to the farm).

Anyway, thanks very much for the help.  Most appreciated.

Jane, you're a gem!  Thank you.  I believe you found Ann's family and it all falls into place.

In 1840 Ann married a younger widower, William Dearden.  I've been told that the 1841 census shows them living in their own household with an infant son, Matthias, but no Jane.  By the look of the information you just provided, the reason is because Jane is living with her grandparents in 1841.  Baby Matthias died the following year and by 1851 Jane is with her mother and step-father and their three children (born in Haydock).  Furthermore, most of the Daniels clan that I can find in the area where Ann came from seem to be connected with cotton factories.  It all makes perfect sense.

Wow.  Thanks so very much for filling in the gaps!!  :D
