1841 lookup please
« on: Friday 14 January 05 16:39 GMT (UK) »
Can someone find a Freeman Gravil (gravel) on the 1841 census.  He was born in Epworth ,1812 and I believe stayed in the area. I think he may have married an Ann? and had a child Martha (1837).

Thanks :)

Would this be the same Freeman Gravil that I have just found in Cardiff in 1912, where he was proprietor of Raper's Temperance Hotel? I'm not related to the Gravils, but I'm interested in the Epworth connection you have mentioned, as my Merrils ancestors were born in Epworth and also came to Cardiff!

Hi tjwizard,

Not in 1912 as this one was born c.1812. However it may well be his nephew, Freeman born 1852. Do you have any other details - wife, kids?

Have you visited Epworth-  it is lovely although obviously changed from way back then.  The Gravils are a well known name in that area.

 :)
