LOST Owen ROURKE in the 1851?
« on: Thursday 03 April 08 13:11 BST (UK) »
Hi all

Please can anyone help with a look up in the 1851 census for OWEN ROURKE, he was born in 1847 in Manchester Lancashire.

In the 1861 aged 14 he is transcribed as OWEN ROOK, apprentice Confectioner  to the Clarke family
In the 1871 aged 23 He is transcribed as OWEN ROURK Confectioner married to Maria Quinlan with son John
In the 1881 aged 33 He is transcribed as OWEN ROURKE Master  Confectioner married to Bridget Cook with 4 children
In 1891 aged 43 He is Transcribed as OWEN ROURKE confectioner married to Bridget & 6 children

Died in 1900 aged 52
As you can see I have all information EXCEPT the 1851 where I hope to find him with Parents

If not I will have to order a cert to help sort out the problem. but hoping to sort out without the cost.

ANY help would be much appreciated.

Kind regards

Judi

Owen seems to be hiding quite well!

The best fit I can find is at Wardleworth (Rochdale) where there is an Own Rourke, 5, as grandson of Own Rourke, 62. Another Own Rourke, 23, is next door. All the men are coopers.

HO107/2246 ed 1f fol 122 p5.

Any good?
Looking at ALSTON in south Ribble area, ALSTEAD and DONBAVAND/DUNBABIN etc. everywhere, HOWCROFT and MARSH in Bolton and Westhoughton, PICKERING in the Whitehaven area.
