Gunthorpe Baptism
« on: Friday 04 April 08 21:10 BST (UK) »
I am looking for the Baptism of my 4th Great Grandfather John Pearson.

According to the census he was born in Gunthorpe Abt 1805, however I haven't been able to find any mention of BMD's at Gunthorpe on the IGI site.

Can anyone tell me if they know of any Baptisms in Gunthorpe, or what village they would have been baptised in.

Thanks

Helen Allington

On the IGI here are 9 possibles but looking at them one entry is at Epperstone, which comes under Southwell  in 1837 onwards.......on the map this is the closest to Gunthorpe..... but it is a shot in the dark.  :-\

John Pearson ch. 19.8.1804 Epperstone, Nottingham.

Father John Mother Sarah.

Hi Helen,
I've just done a search (5 years either side of 1805) using the Notts Baptism CD and, like Patrish, have found nothing for Gunthorpe, the nearest options being at Epperstone.
There are three Baptisms at Epperstone, two of which are probably for one set of parents:
Pearson John baptised 12.09.1802 Father: John  Mother: Sarah   Father's occupation: Labourer
Pearson John baptised 19.08.1804 Father: John  Mother: Sarah
Pearson John baptised 03.03.1806 Father: William Mother: Anne
Hope this helps.
Kind regards,
Paulene :)

Thanks to all who have replied.

I will keep a note of those. Still not that sure if any of these is my John. Other than John none of the other names ring a bell, although I know that that doesn't really mean anything.

Thanks for your time and help, much appreciated.

Helen
