Just as a side, the name Annesley and variations seems to be local to this area of Sussex, in my research anyway. Have come across it a number of times.

OK everyone, having looked at several Edmund Earl's on censuses andruled them out for various reasons THIS is my best shot for the final member of the crew:

1861
Rathbone Street West HAm

George Earl 52 Shipyard labourer bn Eastbouren Sussex
Eliza wife 47 bn Hampshire
Alexander 14 bn Hampshire
Edmond 10 bn Kent Woolwich
William 8 bn Middlesex
Robert Hastings grandson 5

Dad a shipyard labourer from Sussex? Not too much of a stretch of imagination that young Edmond might later go to sea from Sussex?

(Fancy finding my Welsh William Williams now? ;) or do you need a lie down?)

Looks like Brightlingsea is right for George Grimsey Snr-there is a memorial to him "lost on the Galway Lass" in the church there. Thanks everyone Pete
