1871 look up please
« on: Monday 07 April 08 15:59 BST (UK) »
I am trying to put some information together on the loss of the SV Galway  Lass out of Newhaven at  Flamborough Head October 14 1875. I believe all were Newhaveners so (if not at sea) should show on the '71 and Grimseys sons on the '61. Places and DOB would be good, addresses even better.
George Grimsey aged 55
George Edward Grimsey aged 20
Isaac William Grimsey aged 17
Wm Hart
Nelson Tasker
Alfred Penn
Edmund Earle
Killick Stevens- this might well be a nickname as it came from a poem written about the event  in true Victorian melodramatic style and is an old name for an anchor .
If any one wants the poem let me know. All are buried at Flamborough Church
Thanks Pete

This caughtmy eye because some of my ancestors sailed from Littlehampton or Newhaven and one, Ernest Edmonds, was lost overboard at Flamborough Head in 1884 when his ship, the Remembrance, was in collison with another ship, called Kelloe.  He was the only casualty.

Anyway, that aside, before I start looking up, can you confirm if the ages you have listed are as at the time of the loss ('75) or what they are estimated at for '71?

Thanks
