Woohoo...Hi debenem, just checking in on a lunch break...No I hadn't seen the Jubb thing, and the marion Paterson thing, the James as head of family I had, but have no idea if it's the right family or not...wonderful results so far...don't really have the time ot investigate at the moment, I'll get into it when I get home...but I'm supposed to be teaching something in a couple of minutes so I better get back...or maybe I'll just make something up to tell them all... there is a few Jubbe/Jubb's on NA prior to 1657 ... What areas are close to Thornhill ....

Well, about Francis Jubb, apparently there is a Francis Jubb listed on the 1641/2 Protestation Oath Returns which is a list of "the names of all the person with the towne and parishe of Mirffeilde which have taken the protestation". The Protestation Oath was in response to a demand for loyalty by Charles I, who was unpopular, and every male over 18 was required to make the oath, and anyone who refused was noted.

I'm not sure the 1769 Jubb/Sykes thing is a connection, because Hull is a long way from Thornhill, wrong side of the country...Jubb is not too uncommon a name in Yorkshire, but I have never seen the NA reference and will check it out.

Here's a map of the Thornhill/Mirfield area...my lot are more Mirfield than Thornhill but some of the parishes overlap...Thornhill is a little southeast of Mirfield.

The following children of George Moore and Mary Isabella Addison were all baptized 4 March 1889 at St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Methodist Church:

Mary Isabella b. 22 Feb 1872 in St John, New Brunswick
Headly Vicar (son) b. 25 Nov 1875 in Portland, Maine
Franklin Wesley b. 1 may 1878 in Sherbrooke, Quebec
Edward Hanlan b. 10 Oct 1880 in Montreal, Quebec
Frederick Creighton b. 17 Feb 1888 in St Johns, Quebec

You can find the full records by putting Mary Isabella Moore into the Drouin Index; the others are indexed with just their initials.

Do you have the particulars of Edward's marriage and family? I have found some details about them if you would like them.

How on earth did you find all this? I was shovelling through the drouin index all day without finding much of anything.

I do remember my dad talking about St jean...I think they lived there for a while but it was during the 1930s.

It was all that delicious food you fed us last week! I was lurking but out of town and only had access to the censuses and Lovell's which didn't help much.

In reality, I too have been waiting for the Drouin index and hit the library running yesterday. I simply lucked out with how I used it, I guess. I am so pleased that I was able to help break down your brick wall.

Now then, Edward....

Edward Moore, lawful son of George Moore, Tinsmith, and Isabella Addison, was baptized in the Catholic faith 15 Jul 1900 at St Charles Church, Montreal, Catholic. I presume this was in preparation for his marriage to Ernestine Charbonneau on 12 Nov 1900 at St Henri Church, Montreal, Catholic; he was married as Edward Handland Moore, f. George, m. Isabel Addison.

Baptisms of 2 sons; I think these records are in French (looked through so many it's hard to remember):

Joseph Edouard Victorin Moore, 12 May 1904
Joseph Georges Edouard Moore, 11 Jun 1905

Both at St Charles Church, Montreal, Catholic

I don't have index finding notes for these entries but if you can't find them please let me know and I'll retrace them.

I will PM you one other bit of info shortly.
