Burial records, Ystradgynlais
« on: Tuesday 08 April 08 20:14 BST (UK) »
Hello,

Does anyone know or are they able to find out if burial records are available for St. Cynog's, Ystradgynlais please. I am looking for any information concerning George and Elizabeth Havard; George died in February 1951 and Elizabeth in July 1953. According to a relative, they were buried in the same plot, but this is unmarked.
Thanks.

I've just been looking at the Family History site for Ystradgynlais and seen that the parish records (if the information is there), is in the Ystradgynlais library as well as the church itself.

Ystradgynlais Family History society sell the records on CD. They also have records for Ystalyfera. When i bought they were £15 each, and have proved invaluable.

See their website for details

Just came across your posting - George & Elizabeth Havard were my grandparents, their youngest child Albert ( Bert ) being my father.

Hi Viv,

It's Julie here. I don't think I've actually asked you before if you have any information about them or know where they are buried in the churchyard. I know it's an unmarked grave from Betty.

Thank you David, it is very much appreciated. Can you tell me please where you found this information & if there is any record of the plot number. I believe they were buried in a double plot from a relative, but cannot be sure of this. Also, if there are any paper records available that I could apply for a copy of.

Best wishes

Hi Julie,

The info was from the parish register directly. I can go to the cemetery if you want and see if theres headstones which I take a photo for you.

Best wishes,
David.

Hello David,

You are very kind. When I visited a few years ago, I was unable to find a grave for them, and a cousin who lives in Ystradgynlais, thought they may have been buried in an unmarked grave. Does the parish register give any information with regards to plot numbers or locations do you know? If you do find a grave, which I had missed, then a photo would be very welcome.

With regards to the parish register, are you in any position to make a copy of these 2 records for me? I will gladly refund any costs incurred and can arrange it via a private message. As I don't live in Wales, it isn't something I can do myself. If not, or if you would rather not, then don't worry, you have already been very helpful.

Best wishes

Julie
