Shincliffe birth Charles Alfred Lovett bc1897

I am trying to  trace the birth of Charles Lovett  and  confirm his parents names.
 He  was always supposed to  be born in Shincliffe  Kent . I believe his father may be Robert Lovett.
 Robert was in the Army in 1891 in AS corps , born Portsea.
Robert and wife  Elizabeth  Mary appear in 1901 census in Colewort Barracks Portsmouth.
They have a son albert William  Albert  who is 6 years old. and two daughters . All efforts to find Charles birth record and his parents marriage have failed.

There is a Charles Alfred LOVETT birth registered in the Elham registration district September quarter 1896 ref. 2a 1020 http://freebmd.rootsweb.com

Elham registration district would cover Shorncliffe (note spelling)

Thanks very much for your quick reply.

 I have this certificate already it is for 1896 not 1897  and  it has father names  Albert John and mother Elizabeth, however on Charles marriage certificate it says  father Robert Lovett so  I am assuming this is correct name. Unless she married a second time to a brother?
 
I think I may have to  send for the other elder brothers birth certificate as iot is only two years apart  to  see if I can get any more details of the parents at that time.

Are the parents Albert John LOVETT and Elizabeth Mary L nee SHAW only I see there is a possible marriage June quarter 1893 Portsea registration district ref 2b 847.

Are there any addresses on this 1896 birth certificate and what is the occupation of the father?

Why do you think Charles Alfred was born in 1897 and not 1896?

I'm just wondering if it is the correct one as it seems rather a conincidence - perhaps his father was Albert John but commonly known as Robert - it does happen.  Furthermore, I can see an Albert LOVETT bc1870 Portsea in the 1871 and 1881 census yet he seems to disappear and a Robert LOVETT appears in the 1891 and 1901 census who I can't see earlier.

Hello and thanks for your help.
 Yes the mother on the certificate is Elizabeth Lovett nee Shaw , the address looks like Horn Street Hythe. Father  Albert John was Corporal ASC.
 I was told by his son in law that he was born in 1897  but the rest of the date seems to  fit ,  this was quite a few years ago.  Charles was also in the army and I wanted to  find out a bit more about his life during the war.
I was sure it was correct until I got the marriage certificate which confused  me some what.

If a you say he could be using another christian name at this time then no wonder I could not find them.

In 1901 Robert LOVETT age 30 b.Portsmouth is Comp'y Q'r Master Sgt ASCorps

RG13/1008 folio 23 page 1

and in 1891 Robert LOVETT age 21 b.Portsea is a soldier ASCorps

RG12/566 folio 21 page 37

and the address, Horn Street, would be apt for Shorncliffe so it looks good to me.  I would assume that "Robert" was stationed at Shorncliffe Barracks at the time of Charles' birth.
