family bible peterborough
« on: Wednesday 09 April 08 15:23 BST (UK) »
We moved from 123 St Pauls Road, Peterborough in 1972. Dad left a cupboard full of toys by mistake, we were not offered them back. In there also was my Mom's Grandma's Bible/ Prayer Hymn Book in the name of Weatherall / Evison/ Daulton. They were black and in a fine leather. About 5X7.
Just on the off chance they may be stuck in an old book shop somewhere.....................

Hi argentina,
So sorry to hear that.
Have you looked on ebay, in case someone is selling them there -  there is a 'wanted 'section to make requests.
Can you tell us a name/names that will be in the Bible, please.
Wonder if it might have gone to one of the charity shops in the area?
What sort of date would these items be? Have a look online and see if you can find any pictires that look like the ones you have lost - that way someone might know how old they are, and what we should be looking for.
Hope you find them!
Kind regards,
Paulene :)

Hi argentina,
Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you.
Wish I had something better to report back, but I've been to all the charity shops in central Peterborough, plus to the second hand bookstore on Peterborough market to make enquiries for you regarding the bible and prayer book, but there is sadly nothing at any of them.
They said that if they are not sold in the period after they arrived at the stores then they are sent to stores in other areas, so they could now be anywhere in the country.
All I can suggest is that you maybe put an advert in one of the local newspapers, or on ebay -  in the wanted section.
Good luck,
Kind regards,
Paulene :)

Hi Paulene,
Thank you so much for all your hard work. This is far beyond I had hoped for. When we moved ( St Pauls road) I can only really assume everything was thrown away. Though it would have been nice if the new owners had mentioned that Mom and Dad had left a cupboard full of stuff!!
Oh well........thank you again
