Catherine Williams

Hi all,

Looking for any information on a Catherine Williams.

All I know about her is that she married Alfred Thomas in May 1882 at Welshpool Register Office; a spinster, aged 25 , so born about 1857.

At that time her address was Dolarddyn, Castle Caereinion, and father's name John Williams (deceased).

Not a lot to go on, but any other info. greatly appreciated.

Have you found Alfred and Catherine together in 1891 or 1901?It would certainly be a help if they could be found,as it would show her Birthplace.I certainly can't find them/

Sorry William, should also have said that, apparently, Catherine died before 1887 as I have found Alfred remarried.

I may or may not have found a possible in 1861.The trouble is as I have just mentioned on the Census and Resource Forum,I am having problems viewing the original images on Ancestry.

Despite finally managing to view the image from 1861,which I don't particularly fancy,as it shows a Catherine Williams as the daughter of an Elizabeth Williams who is unmarried and born in Newtown Montgomeryshire in c 1835.This Catherine also born in Newtown Montgomeryshire in c 1857,was the only one born in Montgomeryshire at about the right time.Truth is though your Catherine could have been born almost anywhere"!

There is a Catherine aged 29 in the 1881 census living at Dolaraddyn Farm , Llanfair Caereinion but unfortunately she is a servant on a farm and her birthplace is given as Montgomeryshire. You should be able to see the details on the LDS site.
In order to help looking back did she have children and if so what were their names and also did any of  the witnesses at the wedding have the same surname?

Thanks for your efforts so far.

There were no children as far as I know, certainly none surviving in Alfred's later family census returns.

The witnesses at the marriage were Henry Thomas, Alfred's brother, and a William Bray, no connection that I know of.

Hi again,

Could anyone with access to the 1871 census check the returns for Darowen, Montgomeryshire,  for a Catherin (sic) Williams, aged 14, born Dyffrin, Merionethshire, and her father John Williams and let me know the rest of the family.

Living at "penrhiwlas" Darowen in 1871 were;
John Williams,Farmer born c 1811 Pwllheli Carnarvonshire.
Anne Williams,born c 1818.
Robert Williams,born c 1849.
Elizabeth Williams,born c1852.
William Williams,born c 1853.
"Cathrin" Williams,born c 1857
Richard Williams,born c 1860.
Laura Williams,born c 1864.
Wife Anne and all the children are listed as born in Dyffryn Merionethshire.
