Death 1915, Cobram, Victoria, Australia.
« on: Friday 11 April 08 19:14 BST (UK) »
Stephen Shears was born at East Stonehouse, Devon in 1834.
His death on the Family Search web site is stated as being in Cobram, Victoria in 1915, but it is only a submitted record, and I know they are not always to be trusted.
The birth information is accurate.
Would some kind person be able to tell me where I should look to find out if the death at Cobram is correct.

Kind regards
siskin

The Victorian BDM contains the  information about the death of Stephen Thos SHEARS aged 85 in 1915 at Cobram.

However parents' names are listed as unknown.
The reference is  4628.

Victorian BDM indexes can be checked online at
http://online.justice.vic.gov.au/bdm/home
However it is a pay for site, and some of us have the disks of information and are quite happy to look for Rootschatters.

If though you want a copy of a certificate, a digital copy can be ordered online through the site for $17.50 AUD.

Thank you very much dee and Jenn for your help, it is much appreciated.
Stephen Thomas Shears was the brother of my GGGrandmother, and I now know why I have been unable to find any details of him after the 1851 census.
If anyone has the BMD disks of information and would be prepared to do a 'look up' I should be very grateful. It would be great to have the details of his marriage as well as his death.

Very many thanks for your interest
siskin

Yes....Jenn, sorry, I got carried away, I am so grateful for your help.
The names of his children are interesting, as most of the names are family ones that occur through the family.
Thank you
siskin

Hi siskin
Although you set out to find the death of Stephen Thomas Shear, someone might find the death of Mary Shears [nee Halden] for you.

There is a burial in Coburg Cemetery for Mary Shears.  C of E . Comp. F. Gv 268 . 27/12/1917 aged 78.
Long way from rural Cobram where Stephen departed 2 years earlier. ::)
