Cookardinia Cemetery
« on: Saturday 12 April 08 11:25 BST (UK) »
I know - nobody has ever heard of Cookardinia  ::)
(it's on the Hume Highway between Wagga and Albury - in NSW) but I have just found one of my rellies was buried there in 1876.

I can't find this cemetery listed on any of the Australian Cemetery lists and would love a Memorial Inscription or a grave photo (BIG bonus) - that is, of course, if the grave is actually marked with headstone etc.  ::)

I have seen mention (Google search) that the cemetery was in use as late as 1968 but who knows what's happened since then??

I wont bother with all the details unless SKS just happens to live there or is traveling in that direction

 - pretty please -

Thanks
Di

Thanks Jen,

I saw that Wagga also "claimed" the same cemetery.

I'll email Holbrook and see if they can help.

Appreciate your help

Di

Just in case you are still looking, I've found pictures on BillionGraves - a wall of remembrance - there seem to be almost no gravestones at all.

Hi All

I visited the Cookardinia Cemetery back in March 2020 looking for some of my deceased relatives (Post family). There are quite a number of marked graves in the cemetery in both good and bad condition (just like any other cemetery). I intend to past by the cemetery again in the near future if you need me to check for a particular grave or number of graves. There are also websites that allow you to search online for people buried at this cemetery, and nearby cemeteries.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that the Cookardinia cemetery is still in use with a distant relative of mine buried there in 2016.

Thanks for the update wayne GH

Although we've not found a grave/headstone for my relative I understand that a new plaque has been installed on the wall of remembrance.

Hi Lady Di

I took a picture of the wall of remembrance and I can read all 20 plaques if you wish for me to check if the plaque is there.
