Hi :),

      I have a 3x great Auntie called Julia Condon, who might come from the Waterford area, but im not 100% sure, she married a William Buckland who come from Croydon,surrey in the uk, she could come from another part of Ireland, if anyone has any infro on her or her family i would be most greatful for it.

Could you give us some info as to when the marriage took place and whether it was in England or Ireland

Hi :),

     The marriage took place in England in 1865 on the 31st of july at st marys church in Croydon, surrey. Julia was 25, so she would have been born in 1840, her dads name was cornelius Condon.

    Im not sure were Julia was born thats one of the things i want to find out and who the rest of her family is etc, all i now is she come from ireland and was born in 1840.

If you look the family up on the 1881 census which is free at www.familysearch.org - you will find that Julia's birthplace is shown as Cork

To search for family in Ireland you'll need more than just the county. Civil registration of births started 1864 so for earlier dates you need church records (if they still exist). To find church records you need to know the family's religion and where they lived (parish if not actual townland not just the county).
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Hi,

   Unforturely I only now the county at this present point in time thanks to the kind efforts of Carolew who found out for me yesterday that it was Cork Julia lived in before she moved over to england, Iam yet to found out the townland etc, and would not now how to start looking for it, on the irish genelogry sites as Im only use to the english sites at the moment.

Irish records for that period are very scarce as many were destroyed

If she was RC religion - then they are even scarcer as many Diocesan Bishops would not allow the Mormon Church (LDS) access to their parish records for transcription purposes

You may find the IFHF data base http://brsgenealogy.com/ helpful.  You are able to search Co Cork records and view records.  Costs apply if you wish to view in depth records.  It is worthwhile registering(free) as the data bases are growing and one is notified of new additions.
