1891/1901 Census Axbridge dist?
« on: Thursday 17 April 08 03:32 BST (UK) »
:) Hello All.  Greetings from Queensland, Australia!
Could someone please help find the following family in 1891/1901 Census -
WILLIAM HENRY WHITMARSH marr. ALICE THOULD in June qtr 1885, Axbridge dist.  (I understand this is in Somerset.)
WILLIAM WHITMARSH died 1899 in same district.  He was born Mar.qtr.1858, Worcester.  ALICE THOULD was born Mar.qtr. 1857, Upton-on-Severn, Worcester.
I would like to trace their family.  Many thanks.
                                                    Carol B.

Hi,

Here is Alice in 1891,

1891  RG12/1919  f.143  p.47  Weston-Super-Mare, Somerset
6 Victoria Blds

Eliza THOULD          Head    Wid    66    Lodging House Keeper    Devon Hoodle
Alice WHITMARSH    Daur      M      33    Partner in   "  "                  "  "    Hillcroom

Her birthplace is dittoed as Devon but this seems to be an error as from the 1861 census I see 'your' Alice is born Worcestershire, Hill Croome.

Regards
Daisy

:)  Thank you to both of you for your replies.
If WILLIAM H. WHITMARSH was a "Wheel chair driver" in 1891 Census, would that mean he was a disabled person, or someone who looked after a person in a wheel-chair?  I wonder why he wasn't living with his wife Alice?
Can ALICE WHITMARSH be located in the 1901 Census?  I'd appreciate it if someone could look for her.
      Many thanks again.
                                                           Carol B.

hmmmm - theres 2 marriages in FreeBMD that could be Alice (twixt 1891 and 1901), and no deaths.

cant see her as Whitmarsh on the census ...   :(

Can someone help with RUSSELL family (John and Charlotte and children - Caroline, James, William, Mary Ann Weaver, Isaac Weaver, Charles, George) - have a note that says Axbridge - but I don't know where this came from - Churchill, Somerset - reg district Axbridge - seems the Russell family was in Bath around 1836-1844. Any information ????? thanks Alison

Only just starting research but Alice Thould was sister of my grandfather George Webber Thould. Any family info would be welcome.
