The nearest I could find for Jemima in 1861 is

RG9/111/83/64-St Pancras
Euston Hotel

Jemima Bolton 23 Un Servant b Middlesex Drayton NY Bridge

Strange birthplace..could be an error..but I think there is a place in Staffs called Drayton..not sure though

I was about to reply to say that Bolton would be her married/widowed name
need the 1861 to give her husband, louisa`s father.

There is a Market Drayton but thats unlikely its North of Stafford

Thanks

japan would be jappaning, bilston was famous for enameling

"The artists and craftsmen of Bilston not only enamelled the boxes and other trinkets but others in the town also made the boxes and trinkets for enamelling and engraved the plates from which transfers for enamelling were made."

Hi Geoff

I wouldnt totally discount the Jemima in 61 just yet..unless you know that Louisas father was not the father of her siblings..the eldest being born around 1859 in which case Jemima could have married Mr Bolton pre 61 therefore she would be Bolton in 61.

Thanks for the enameling info..
