OK dee

Waiting to see if there is any responce from the newspaper & Ruskies mails sounds like a good idea. :)

In the meantime I'll have a browse round for any one who might be researching Parr or Newbon ancestry from Leicester or Notts.

Thanks again, Maddie.

We just don't want to waste money on certificates if someone has popped out of the woodwork!  ;D  ;D  ;D

What about the Probate Index?.

If we find something on there we could then try the newspapers.

I can't check it until tomorrow.

Just a suggestion??.

Sound like a great suggestion, Sarra.
And tomorrow would be fine, I'm sure.

As yet, I've had no replies from the emails I sent yesterday  :-\.

Maybe everyone is away for the weekend ...

If anyone buys the Herald Sun on a daily basis, could they please keep an eye open for any kind of follow up on the article. If any family members are found, they might print a small item about it in the paper. As ANZAC day has now passed, it'll be comparitively low on the priority scale I would imagine, so won't be front page news any more.

It was lead article on news.com yesterday morning, but the headlines change regluarly through the day and followups aren't usually shown on the site.

I don't think anyone should spend any money on certificates, specially since we don't know if any family members have been found. I've tried via google to find an email address for Nick Lynch (as he might want to buy a certificate or two  ;)) but there are too many on google for me to know which might be the correct one.  :(

You've all done a great job. If anyone has any other bright ideas, let us know.

Not my family, I am like everbody else, read the paper and as I was born in Maffra, just could not help myself, many hours later....
The Parr/Newbon family as well is interesting to say the least.
My mother aged 80 remembers some of the Forsters, Reeves etc families and is sure there is still family members in the Maffra area.
She has a photo  of WW1 soldiers from Maffra taken in front of the memorial hall with a Mrs Forster or Foster or Mills (she can't remember) who did a lot for local soldiers and there families. She is looking for it for me.

Hello Jan!

Great to have you here....

I think the family is the one I have found arriving in Victoria on the Port Adelaide in 1887....I hadn't posted it as I was a bit thrown by the father being listed as James Joseph!

We're obviously not the only ones who cant resist a challenge......  ;D  ;D
