Early Falmouth PERKINS
« on: Saturday 26 April 08 03:07 BST (UK) »
Does anyone have some details on the first Perkins in Falmouth and if they do would they have come from Hillmorton in Warwickshire?

My obscure Falmouthian antecedants are

John Perkins:  died, 11 Mar 1665:  described as "ancient" and a "gardener" and paid a Poll Tax in 1660.

Jacob Perkins:  paid the 1660 poll tax; was a "soldier"; possibly married to Elizabeth and father of John and Mary.  John and Mary were baptised in 1667 and 1671 respectively.  He may have been the Falmouth Parish church warden of 1668.

Thomas Perkins:  Married about the same time as Jacob and Elizabeth ie c1666.  Thomas and wife Mary, had 4 children:  first Mary seems to have died when very young; then James in 1669, William 1670 and Mary 1673.

The earliest certain record i have been given is that of a

George Perkins also a soldier, born around 1702.  He later married Mary Bolitho in 1728.  They had 9 children.  The only record of them was of 3 children, including a George junior b in 1739.  This George Perkins married Ester Longstaff in 1775 and subsequently a clear line is known to me.

My question is really to find out the link between Hillmorton Perkins's as so many seem to have emerged from there.

Who was/is George Perkins' (b 1702) clear ancestor?

Any gem will do.

Hi Julie

I have been looking at National Archives for you. I cannot find anything on Perkins from Falmouth, I have, however, found these documents and wills ... I wonder if they may be your Perkins family and may shed some light on who went to Falmouth.
