MI's for Jane Lawrie, and Henry Richardson Lawrie
« on: Wednesday 30 April 08 21:26 BST (UK) »
Hello

I wonder if anyone can help?

I have a:

Henry Richardson Lawrie, ch.17 Sep 1811, Yetholm.    I have his parents and siblings.

Married Jane Thomson 29 Nov 1839 Jedburgh.  They had 6 children.  - first born 1840 last 1849  I have their names and dobs

In the 1841 census and on his will in 1894 - he is down as a schoolmaster in Eckford.  In the will, I found a son I didn't know about and through the IGI found a 2nd family and marriage.

2nd marriage is to an Ann Bennet on 04 June 1856, Eckford.  They had a further 6 children. 57-68 - I have their names and dobs

If possible - I'm looking for:

1.   MI's from Eckford Parish church - for first and if possible 2nd wife and of Henry himself.  I'm assuming that they were buried there.  Or being really cheeky a photo of any gravestones of this family.
2.  Census for 1861, 71, and 91.

Am aware of a will for a daughter Janet Mary Lawrie on SP (b.  27 Nov 1849 d.  10/09/1883 ) but shall down load that when I've funds.

Thanks very much for any help you can give.  Steve :O)

Thanks very much Monica - much appreciated.

I've got a photo of the church from the net.  Hopefully someone locally will be able to assist with photos of any headstones or any information on the school - or photos.

My sons line is through Samuel William Lawrie born 14 Nov 1841 who married a Euphemia Lee Paxton - I've got them on the 71,81 and 91 census in Kelso, and Selkirk.  Also got their bmds

Regards,  Steve :O)

Update:  so off I went and downloaded the census record - mmmh

Ret par Teacher, Insp of Poor, Coll of Poor & ????????, Regr of Births, then the 'C Sang Insp Her Olk' - and finally Sess Clerk.

So obviously - a retired teacher, Inspector of the Poor, Register of Births and a Session Cerk - as well as the untranslateables..  His son of the same name s occupation is down as 'fathers clerk'.  So it's appear that Henry snr - continued to work well into old age.

I'd have thought that a man who lived and who would have appeared to be a fairly central  figure of the community might be noted somewhere locally.  Please help  :O)

Update: 04/05/08 - have added an attachment with HR Lawries (snr) jobs - roles etc - anyone able to get the missing ones?  Thanks again....
