Missing death on Scotlandspeople, can anybody find it?
« on: Sunday 04 May 08 12:29 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I would love to be able to download the death entry for my ancestor John Cumming, but I have searched and searched the scotlandspeople website and I just can't find it. I know the exact place and date of his death, but no results come up when I search. Is scotlandspeople incomplete or am I doing something wrong?

Here are the details if anybody else can find it?:

John Cumming died 12th January 1891 at Convener Street, New Elgin - age 69 years.

I know these details are correct because they come from an old family Bible, and they also match info I found on the Libindx website.

Does anybody have any ideas how I can find it? ???

Many thanks,
millerina

There is one registered Elgin, Moray, 1891, aged 64 - have you checked it out. The age could have been misread or the registrar might have been misinformed.

Thanks Gadget,

I hadn't spotted that one, Its very possible that a 9 could be misread as a 4 - I will have to have a closer look!

Many thanks!
