Did Martha ever marry Samuel?
« on: Sunday 11 May 08 01:11 BST (UK) »
This is sort of a continuation of my thread headed up 'really struggling'.

I have now received the birth certificate for Alfred Brown, my Gt Grandfather born in 1857.

His parents are listed as Samuel Brown and Martha (nee Davis).  Martha was born in 1834 in Longton and Samuel in 1828 in Fenton.

There first child Charlotte (born 1855) appears on the 1861 census as Charlotte Brown and in the 1871 census appears as Charlotte Davis.  Alfred also appears in 1871 as Alfred Davis.

My questions are:
Can anyone locate a marriage for Martha and Samuel, so I can order a certificate.
If not, how can I find out more about Martha and her family?

Kind regards

I am still really struggling with this one - I ordered an incorrect death certificate for a Martha Davis for 1870 as I assumed she wasn't married.

I know Martha was the mother of Alfred Brown (my Gt Grandfather) as his birth certificate states Martha (nee Davis) Brown and Samuel Brown in 1857.

Any information anyone has regarding Martha would be very much appreciated.

Kind regards, Chris
