Sabalauskas - Saverlosky - Sabel
« on: Thursday 15 May 08 12:11 BST (UK) »
I have come to a dead end with researching one branch of my family.  I know some members of this family emmigrated from England (although most actually returned) and I was wondering whether anyone could help me in tracking down these people, hoping that immigration documents might shed some new light on the family.

I know that Anthony SAVERLOSKY (born 1885) left Liverpool for Canada in 1906 and then from Liverpool to USA in 1909.  He had returned by 1912 when he was married, is this usual for people to go and come back? Anthony was born in Lithuania/Poland/Russian Empire.  He also went by the surname of SABEL

His sister Annie (born 1891 in Stockport) left England sometime after 1901 to settle in Canada, she married in 1914 in Quebec and did not return.  She went by the surname of SOUTHALL.

Anthony's daughter Teresa (born 1932) left for Canada in 1954, she returned later.  Her surname was SABEL.

Anthony's son Vincent (born 1930) left for Rhodesia (South Africa) around the same time.  He was also a SABEL and also returned.

Any help would be appreciated, as I have come to a complete dead end.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Karen,

Thanks for your reply.  Although I don't have any documents on Ann's and Ernest's children I do know that they had 11 children.  I actually found a distant cousin using this site, who gave me the info.  Unfortunate he couldn't go any further back though.

Hi

Maybe I can help a little with your research into your families history we must be related some way.
What I know which is limited as my father Frank did not speak much about family history.
Anthony Sabel (Saverlosky)  was my Grandfather he married and opened a green grocery shop in Manchester England.
He had a daughterTeresa and four sons Anthony, John, Vincent  and Frank
Anthony the oldest son lived in Bispham Blackpool for many years.
John (who I am named after) died at a young age of a blood clot
Vincent when he returned from Rhodesia settled in Failsworth Manchester
Frank my father worked as a joiner and lived in Manchester
Teresa when she returned from Canada moved to Southhampton England
All now have sadly deceased
Hope this helps to fill some gaps
