Hi Mel,

I know that I am late into this one but as a direct descendant of William Charles Satchwell, I can confirm that I believe that he was not the father of Leslie J Satchwell.  You may like to change your searches to looking for a Leslie J Morrison in the BDM NSW, so he was a son-in-law. From memory he was born in Musslebrook, NSW,, but my memory is somewhat shot these days.

I have a copy of W.C. Satchwells death certificate and it does not list Leslie as a son.

He isn’t a son from her first marriage, as he was born well after the marriage to William. This is confirmed in the 1916 newspaper article, which shows him to be a 12 year old. The same and JM’s finding of the NSW Morrison birth date, also confirms that not to be the QLD lad.

William and Emmeline SATCHWELL lived in Toowoomba in 1903 and after that in various Brisbane suburbs.  Emmeline's daughters from her first marriage, Emily and Ivy, appear on electoral rolls at the same addresses as their mother.  An online family tree suggests that Emily was Leslie's mother.

What surname were Emily and Ivy using on electoral rolls?Emmeline and Robert were married only 8 months before he died and there is no BDM record for children.
James Henry Charters and Dorothy Satchwell are my wife's grandparents and lived a life apart since the 1930's,just par for the course for their ancestors.

Afternoon all. 
Just fyi, I am struggling with this (Rootschat) so my apologies for my tardiness.. and I can't seem to cut/paste..

Somehow I think we may be talking about two different individuals here. So lets go back a few steps.

I have William Charles Satchwell  - WCS(2) - being born in Morpeth, NSW in 1870. Parents WCS (1) and Sarah (Nunn)

The death cert that I have is for WCS(2) died 4/2/1942, in Heidelburg, Vict.  It states that:
 his father was William Charles Satchwell,
 he had lived in  Vict -13 yrs,, Qld - 32 yrs,, NSW - 27 yrs.
 Married in Gunnedah, NSW  at 24 years of age
 To Emily Jarrold
 He was a widower at his death
 Children:  Dorothy F L (age 46) and Phyllis M (age 44)..

So, no mention of a son.

Note,, my granny (one of his sisters) always said that his death was the end of our Satchwell line in Australia.

I have him marrying an Emily Jarrold in Gunnedah in 1894,,   But, there is no record of it that I can find.   But,  there is one for him marrying an Emeline M Morrison, in Gunnedah in 1894.
Are these the one and the same person? Has the NSW BDM registry got it wrong?  Probably but just in case...

Lets look at the Morrison's in NSW.

Emily M     born 1870  Mussellbrook   
Finlay J      born 1772  Mussellbrook   and then her cousin..

Leslie J      born 1916 to Finlay and Annie.  She now has a nephew..

Is this coincidental??

Emily's father dies in 1878, when she was 8 yo.

Also I believe that there was an Ivy Satchwell (daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W Satchwell) who passed away in Toowong, Qld, in 1916,, where does where fit in?

I have a feeling that there was another Satchwell family (Charles) who emigrated to Australia in the mid 1800's and resided in Queensland (mainly around Beewah, on the sunshine coast). If true that this family may have included a WCS, but I have had difficulty finding out much about them (except they played a lot of euchre.

Does any of this help or just confuse?

Yes, the same person. If you read through all the posts, it will become clear.

Ivy who did not marry and Emily (who died as TURNER, in 1965) were the children from Emmeline’s first marriage.
