VAD Hospital - Winslow Area
« on: Monday 19 May 08 22:25 BST (UK) »
Hi

Does anyone know if there was a VAD hospital in the Winslow, Bucks area in November 1918. I'm trying to research Robert Charles Cook who died from wounds on 11/11/1918 and is buried in Winslow, (where he lived), the local paper says he died in hospital and that his funeral was attended by the VAD Commandant Miss Lambton, I believe that Lambton was a well known name in the area at the time.

Thanks

Ian C

There was a Red Cross Hospital at Cliveden House during WW1...

And there was a Military Hospital in Aylesbury
One more charge and then be dumb,

May the victors when they come
Find my body near the wall.

VAD Nurses didn't just work at "VAD " hospitals...

See Vera Britten's Testament of Youth...

Hi Folks

Thanks for the help, I've tracked his place of death to the 3rd Southern General hospital, Oxford.
